Podiatrist

Department: Glendale Medical
Location: Glendale, CA

Summary

Provides professional medical and surgical podiatric services to patients with conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and related structures.

Essential Duties

Diagnoses, treats, or prescribes treatment of the foot, ankle, and other related structures using medical histories, physical examinations, x-rays, and laboratory test results.
Performs foot, ankle, and related structure surgeries within the scope of practice.
Consults with inter-professional team on the care of patients.
Prescribes medications, corrective devices, physical therapy, or surgery and sets fractures.
Administers medications and local anesthetics.
Advises patients about treatments and foot care techniques to prevent future problems.
Records all diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions.
Conducts training or assists in the training of residents.
Refers patients to other physicians or specialists for consultation in an inter-professional manner.
Performs administrative duties, such as preparing budget requests and ordering equipment and supplies.
Maintains varied hours on rotation schedule with other podiatrists to ensure that a podiatrist is always on-call during non-business hours.

Minimum Requirements


Degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine received by a school accredited by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education and approved by the Medical Board of California's Board of Podiatric Medicine
Successful completion of at least two (2) years of a post-graduate podiatric medical and surgical training program approved by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education
A current and valid California State license to practice the full scope of podiatric medicine as issued by the California State Board of Podiatric Medicine of the California Medical Board
Valid BLS/CPR
