Title X Health Educator

Department: Title X (Glendale Medical)
Location: Glendale, CA


This position provides sexual and reproductive health presentations and outreach activities at school sites, academic institutions, homeless shelters/organizations, parks and recreation centers, and community based organizations in the CCHC service area and adjacent communities. The Title X Health Educator is responsible to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate health education activities to address topic areas to include family planning, unintended pregnancy/teen pregnancy prevention, and prevention and screening of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI). These activities are performed in accordance with the clinic’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.


  • Plans, develops, and facilitates educational activities including presentations, mass marketing, and outreach to adults, teens, and agencies in the community.
  • Develops curricula and facilitates classes regarding family planning and other reproductive health topics, including but not limited to birth control, HIV/STI, preconception care, healthy relationships, sexuality, intimacy, values, and communication.
  • Provides in-service trainings for staff regarding the Title X program and family planning education.
  • Participates in community events including health fairs, street outreach, and other special events to promote clinical linkages.
  • Researches and utilizes fact-based, non-biased information to inform educational activities.
  • Translates scientific language and concepts into clear, simple and understandable information.
  • Works collaboratively with CCHC providers, clinical managers, support staff and Outreach department to promote access and utilization of Title X services.
  • Conducts evaluation activities for program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Participates in internal and community agency meetings to improve service delivery.
  • Keeps records and performs data entry duties as required.
  • Assists in formulation, planning, and implementation of policies, procedures and programs.
  • Develops and participates in the spread of new programs as needed.
  • Attends trainings and conferences as needed.
  • Travels to service locations as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelors level education in Public Health, Health Sciences, or related field.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience providing group/class training/teaching.
  • Experience working with adolescents, and/or low-income culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience with social network media including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, etc.


  • Ability to find solutions when barriers are identified.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize when needed.
  • Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Experience and work ethics that supports working within a high functioning, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to work under supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff.
  • Ability to use computer and learn new software programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills reflecting clarity and diplomacy and the ability to communicate accurately and effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a regulatory climate that includes oversight of state and federal entities, payer contracts etc.
  • Possesses ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Possesses genuine respect for others and acceptance of their individual social and cultural traits.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
  • Able to travel and attend professional meetings, conferences, trainings and clinic sites.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to cooperate while working with others in multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Oral/written fluency in English/Spanish or English/Armenian required.
    •  Knowledge of family planning/reproductive health education and services.
      • Excellent public speaking, presentation and communication skills.
      • Ability to present information in an easily understandable manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Position requires prolonged sitting at a computer, some bending, lifting, stooping and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, photocopy machine, telephone, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight.

Involves standing and walking.
